Radio Craftsmen C400 tube amplifier, PP 6V6 vintage
Up for sale, a vintage Radio Craftsmen C 400 tube amplifier, made in US early 1960s. Push-pull mono amp. Sound is terrific and it is silent - no background hum or hiss. Radio Craftsmen Inc was founded in Chicago (IL) (USA)
All tubes are vintage US tubes in keeping with the correct period. All test strong on my Hickok tester: 2-6V6, 6SN7, 6J5, and 5Y3 rectifier.
Polished plated chassis has no visible corrosion.
Power supply can capacitor replaced with good CP Manufacturing replacement. Other modern electrolytics used. Good quality resistors and caps replaced where needed using silver bearing solder, but the circuit has been kept mainly original. M-cap coupling caps.
There is no switch or fuse (as original) so must be controlled with preamp or power strip. 2 prong cord.
Original speaker terminals plus adapters, 4 8 16 ohm taps. About 8-10 watts, fairly high gain.
It has a input jack on the chassis so you can connect your IPod, phone, LP , CD , electric guitar or other audio source.
Pick-up only on this radio. I can, however, hold it for you while you obtain shipping via either a courier, antique movers, or UShip, which seems to be the lowest price.
